12-year-old boy charged with fatal shooting of 13-year-old boy in D.C.

Officers responded to a report of a man down, but when they arrived on scene, they found a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.

A 12-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday and charged in the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy in Washington, D.C. 

The shooting occurred on July 11, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Officers responded to a report of a man down, but when they arrived on scene, they found a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound, ABC 7News reported

First responders declared the boy dead. He was later identified as Ahmad Mims. 

Members of the Capital Areas Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested the 12-year-old juvenile accused in the incident. He is being charged with voluntary manslaughter while armed.
