A California congressman with roots in the Keystone State will be traveling through Pennsylvania this week for over a dozen events as speculation continues that he may seek a bid for the White House in 2028.

U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., will launch his “Made in PA: New Economic Patriotism Tour” on Tuesday in Philadelphia, alongside state Rep. Chris Rabb, the Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District.

“I was born in Bucks County. My parents still live there,” Khanna wrote on social media July 22. “Next week, just after our 250th anniversary, I'm coming home.”

“Join me for the Made in PA: New Economic Patriotism Tour as we hear from workers & communities about building an economy that works for everyone,” Khanna continued.

Khanna’s tour, beginning in Philadelphia on Tuesday, will take him throughout the commonwealth until Saturday. He’s scheduled visits in a variety of regions, including battleground areas like Bucks and Erie counties, as well as some parts that aren’t viewed as Democratic strongholds.

On Wednesday, Khanna has an event scheduled in Crawford County, in the northwest region of Pennsylvania, centered around defending rural communities by addressing housing, healthcare and education.

Khanna will join U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio, D-17th District, for an event in Pittsburgh on Thursday they say will be a roundtable discussion featuring college and trade school students, youth organizers, and grassroots advocates about “how we can continue to organize the movement, take on corporate power, and build a future that works for everyone.”

On Saturday afternoon, he has an event scheduled in Delaware County titled “Protecting Workers & PA Communities: What the Future Economy Should Look Like in an AI World.”

“The AI revolution should serve working people, not just a tiny cabal of hyper-wealthy tech oligarchs in Silicon Valley,” is written on the description promoting the event. “Join Rep. Ro Khanna for a conversation with steelworkers, warehouse workers, truck drivers, caregivers, tech workers, students, and community members about protecting workers, expanding opportunity, and ensuring the gains from AI are broadly shared –– especially as we center PA's frontline workforce.”

Khanna is serving his fifth term in the U.S. House, representing California’s 17th Congressional District, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. He serves on a variety of committees and is a vice chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Khanna is viewed as one of the prominent voices for progressives serving in the U.S. House and while he’s said he’s focused on helping Democrats win in November, he will “consider” running for president following the midterms.

“I believe I offer two things for why I will consider it to America,” Khanna said in April during a conversation with Reverend Al Sharpton at the National Action Network Conference.

“One is I represent the economic future, and I have a clear roadmap of how we're going to make sure every part of this country has an economic stake in the future,” Khanna said. “Whether that is workers having equity, whether it is the Black South being part of the A.I. revolution, whether it is making sure that families actually have economic independence with healthcare and childcare, I have a comprehensive economic vision, and I believe that people need an economic vision.”

“And secondly, I fundamentally believe, because of my grandfather, that we need to move beyond a colonial model of the world,” he added.

Khanna has taken his message to Pennsylvania on numerous occasions.

In 2020, when he was serving as the co-chair of Sen. Bernie Sanders presidential campaign, he headlined the Pennsylvania Democratic Party’s Winter Dinner. During that speech, he stressed the need for the party to provide an economic message that he believes will resonate with all voters, but specifically those who have felt left behind in the 21st-century economy.

Last year, he held an event in Bucks County where he criticized President Donald Trump and Republicans on multiple matters, including their economic agenda.

The Pennsylvania Republican Party took a jab at Khanna on X over his upcoming visit.

“California can keep you. You're their problem now,” the PA GOP wrote on Thursday. “The statute of limitations on your PA residency has expired. #PAGOP #NoToRo.”

As the midterms are now less than 100 days away, Pennsylvania is expected to play a significant role in which party controls the U.S. House next year.

On Sunday, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries joined Gov. Josh Shapiro to rally for Bob Brooks in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District.
