The Texas Stock Exchange officially entered full-scale operations this week, marking a historic development in the U.S. equity markets in decades.

The Dallas-based exchange has positioned itself as a new competitor to the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq.

The exchange, known as TXSE, completed a phased rollout of all National Market System symbols and commemorated the milestone with a ceremonial bell-ringing at its Dallas headquarters.

The launch follows months of testing and certification with market participants before trading expanded to its full production environment.
