The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Tuesday morning issued a Hurricane Watch for Tropical Storm Edouard as it churns in the Gulf of America toward the Louisiana-Texas coast.

As of Tuesday morning, the storm had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, Scripps News reported. 

The storm is moving through an area with extensive development, but because it's 40 miles offshore, it will have limited time to strengthen before making landfall. It's expected to weaken quickly once it's over land.
