Artificial Intelligence firm Anthropic files papers to sell shares to public for first time
Anthropic, which developed the chatbot Claude, reported a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of 2026.
Artificial intelligence tech firm Anthropic filed papers Monday for what could be the biggest initial public stock offering in history.
The filing by the San Francisco comes amid a complicated moment for AI – becoming nearly ubiquitous in nearly every aspect of the U.S. economy and everyday American life while at the same time posing the threat of becoming a dangerous, runaway technology.
The Wall Street offering is set to happen next month, potentially eclipsing the SpaceX initial public offering in June that raised a record $86 billion, according to the Associated Press.
The 335-page document filed Monday shows Anthropic’s revenue is growing rapidly. But like other AI labs, it has yet to turn a profit. Anthropic, which developed the chatbot Claude reported a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of 2026.
