Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for meetings with mediators working with Iran and the U.S. on a permanent end to the war in Iran. 

The initial talks will mark the start of a 60-day process made possible by the memorandum of understanding signed last week. Iran and the U.S. have agreed to create a "de-confliction cell" to address fighting in Lebanon between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah. 

Pezeshkian was greeted by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other senior officials, according to the Associated Press. 

He warned that the effectiveness of the talks depends on any terms the two countries agree to having a full commitment and precise implementation. 

It is the Iranian leader's first visit since the war in Iran began in February.
