The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing Tuesday to consider Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump's nominee to replace outgoing Fed Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.

Among the key questions committee members will ask Warsh are what he will do about inflation and interest rates. 

A majority of the 24-member panel must advance his nomination to get a full Senate vote, in which a nominee needs only a majority of yes votes in the chamber,  which is controlled by Republicans. 

However, Sen. Thom Tillis, a North Carolina Republican, is vowing to hold up Warsh's nomination vote until the Trump administration concludes its probe into the Fed’s headquarters renovations, under Chairman Jerome Powell, with whom Trump has repeatedly criticized for not lowering interest rates.
