Senior American officials met with an Iranian delegation in New York City on Tuesday, amid the backdrop of the U.S. General Assembly.

"It was a meeting that lasted for three hours," President Trump told CSPAN. "It was a great meeting."

Trump had Kushner and Witkoff comment on the meeting, but there was no confirmation of who exactly attended.

"In one case, it's obliteration and the other alternative is potential greatness," he said, repeating the binary choice he presented to Tehran to either make a deal or face destruction of the regime.

Earlier in the day, Trump warned he would have to choose between a deal or the "annihilation" of Iran, during his speech to the UN.

The war began in late February with joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Trump has sought a commitment from Iran to never possess a nuclear weapon.
