Dennis Haskins, who starred in the sitcom "Saved by the Bell," died Monday, according to his agent. He was 75. 

Haskins played Richard Belding, the high school principal, in the comedy series, which aired from 1989 to 1992, NBC News reported. 

"It's a tragic loss," Jay Schachter, head of film and television for Stewart Talent in New York City, said in a statement.

Haskins was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. 

Prior to taking on his role on "Saved by the Bell," he had appearances on "Magnum, P.I." and "The Twilight Zone."
