White House press secretary Leavitt announces birth of second child, a girl named Viviana

"Our hearts instantly exploded with love. She is perfect and healthy," Leavitt said, while sharing a photo of the mother and her child.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Thursday that she has given birth to her an her husband's second child – daughter Vivian.

She delivered the infant Friday.

In the X post announcing the birth, in which Leavitt included a picture of her and the child, she suggested the family will refer to her by the nickname "Vivi."  

"Our hearts instantly exploded with love," Leavitt continued. "She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble.

Leavitt, 28, gave birth to her first child, Nicholas or “Niko,” during President Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, according to NBC news. Her final White House press briefing was on April 27. Though she did brief reporters after the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 29. 

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been filling in for Leavitt during her maternity leave, and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth this week gave his own separate press conference to provide updates on the Iran war.
