Trump celebrates 80th birthday, start of 250th celebration with historic MMA fight at White House

A few hours before the cage fight, Trump reached a peace deal with Iran.

President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday in style Sunday night, securing a peace deal with Iran and then kicking off America's 250th anniversary celebration by hosting a UFC mixed martial arts cage match on the White House South lawn.

Trump sat ring side with his wife Melania and UFC founder Dana White as some of the the league's best fighters scored knockouts on a sultry but breezy night in the nation's capital.

Bo Nickal knocked out Kyle Daukaus in the second fight, Nickal went over to Trump and kneeled down, chatting briefly.

“I got to thank President Trump for making this happen,” fighter Bo Nickal told the crowd after he knocked out rival Kyle Daukaus. Nickal, like many of the night's winners briefly greeted the 47th president after their victories.

More than 4,000 fans encircled the ring and chanted "USA, USA" while applauding a large contingent of active duty service members who the president invited to the event.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth jumped up into the stands and greeted service members, posing for pictures and bumping fists before the fighting began.

Other luminaries in the crowd included House Speaker Mike Johnson, podcaster Joe Rogan, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.
