Judge lifts stay on Trump admin ending TPS for Ethiopia
TPS for El Salvador is set to expire Sept. 9 and the administration is not expected to renew it in light of Washington's friendly relations with the Bukele government in that country.
U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy on Tuesday lifted his stay on the Trump administration ending temporary protected status (TPS) for Ethiopia, marking the latest instance of judicial acquiescence after the Supreme Court ruled the administration may end the status.
Murphy's stay was the last block in place for Trump's TPS terminations, according to Fox News's Bill Melugin. Other TPS revocations have included Somalia, Honduras, Afghanistan, Haiti, Yemen, Syria, South Sudan, Venezuela, and several other nations.
Murphy's move follows U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs lifting the stay on ending Somali TPS, which followed the June Supreme Court decision, which found that the courts lacked the authority to review TPS revocations.
