Vice President JD Vance on Thursday excoriated Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed for claiming to support the working class while supporting policies he claims hollowed out the Wolverine State's auto industry.

"This guy Abdul El-Sayed, he says that he stands for working people. Well, if you stand for working people, then why have you supported the same policies that for 40 years shipped the Michigan auto industry to foreign nations?" he asked.

"We are the people who have been fighting for the jobs of the Michigan autoworkers. We've been the people willing to stand up, both to the big corporations, but [sic] the big foreign competitors and say 'you are not allowed to steal American industry anymore,'" he said.

Speaking on the Democrats, he added "they're a bunch of crazy people. Elect the common sense people to Washington and we'll keep on doing great work."

Vance made the remarks during the White House press briefing, marking his second stint at the podium.
