The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) this week announced that it would host a new organization-wide dinner on July 24 after the April event was disrupted by an assassination attempt against President Donald Trump.

The April event took place at a Hilton hotel in Washington, D.C., but ended abruptly after suspect Cole Allen, allegedly stormed the security checkpoint and discharged his weapon before being apprehended. He has pleaded not guilty.

CBS News White House Correspondent Weijia Jiang on Monday contacted members of the WHCA to inform them of the new date, The Hill reported.

“I want to thank board members for the time and care they brought to this decision, particularly on the security front," she said. "The event will feature significantly enhanced safety measures and new access procedures."

Jiang did not identify the location of the rescheduled dinner.
