Equal Rights Amendment fails in Senate
Legislation that would enshrine women’s equality with men in the U.S. Constitution failed to pass in the Senate Thursday by a vote of 51-47. The Equal Rights Amendment, which was first introduced to Congress 100 years ago, has been ratified by 38 states.
