A pilot in Mississippi is in custody after authorities say he stole a plane and threatened to crash it Saturday into various buildings and landmarks near Tupelo.

Officials had said an airborne pilot was threatening to crash his plane into a Walmart while flying in the area of Tupelo.

Videos circulating on social media on Saturday purported to show the pilot circling the aircraft in the area at high speeds.

Just before noon the Mississippi Highway Patrol announced that the pilot had landed in a field outside of the town of Ripley and was in custody.

No injuries were reported associated with the incident. The pilot's motives are unclear.
