Bear attacks Wisconsin couple in their home
The adult female bear was eventually shot and killed.
A couple in Wisconsin were forced to fight off a bear after it attacked their home over the weekend, according to local news outlets.
On Friday, at about 11 p.m., the Taylor County couple noticed a bear was eating from their bird feeder. They yelled at the animal hoping it would go away, but it instead charged at them, crashing through a window and into their home.
The couple, whose children were already asleep, grabbed kitchen knives and and stabbed the bear, according to a report from affiliate ABC-TV news station WAOW. The husband eventually retrieved a gun that he used to fatally shoot the animal.
Officials say both the man and the woman suffered bites and other injuries, but were released promptly from the hospital.
The adult bear, a female, was likely a mother, as at least one cub was seen scrambling away as the mother attacked the house. The remains of the bear were taken by the state's Department of Natural Resources for testing.
