Chad Marlow, senior policy counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union, posted a video on Instagram that advises protestors on how to hide and destroy digital evidence on their phones while they are protesting. 

Marlow explains to protestors in the video that if they're not using their phone during a protest, they should shut it off entirely to keep it from sharing information about their location. 

"If you want to turn on your phone to take pictures or record videos from the day, turn off your Bluetooth and put your phone into airplane mode. That way, your phone won't inadvertently share your private location and other data while you use it," Marlow said. 

Marlow also advises protestors to use encrypted apps like Signal, which makes it more difficult for the government to intercept their communications. 

The video was posted shortly after North Texas Antifa operatives were sentenced to decades in prison in connection to a shooting last year outside a federal immigration detention center in Texas.
