Armed suspect attempts to breach Cincinnati FBI, chase ensues
Officers have reportedly exchanged shots with the male suspect in a gray shirt and body armor
The FBI's Cincinnati Field Office confirmed that an armed suspect attempted to breach its Visitor Screening Facility on Thursday morning, resulting in an exchange of gunfire and a subsequent chase.
The alarm went off around 9 am and FBI special agents responded, but the suspect fled via Interstate 71.
The FBI is working with Ohio State Highway Patrol and local law enforcement to resolve the incident near Wilmington, which is located about an hour outside of Cincinnati.
Clinton County Emergency Management Agency, which oversees Wilmington, Ohio, advised residents and businesses in the area to "lock their doors and remain vigilant."
Officers have exchanged shots with the male suspect in a gray shirt and body armor, the county agency stated.
Just one day prior, FBI Director Christopher Wray said he was "concerned about violence and threats of violence against law enforcement" following his agency's raid on former President Donald Trump's home in Florida.
