Indiana law enforcement arrested 45-year-old Shane Osborne after security cameras in a Beech Grove apartment complex caught his toddler son walking in the hallway of the building while carrying a handgun.

Osborne faces charges of child neglect, according to the New York Daily News. His arrest was captured on camera and aired on television on the Saturday edition of "On Patrol: Live."

He asserted that he was sick and unaware his son had left the apartment. Osborne contends that the gun belonged to his cousin. Authorities recovered a 9mm handgun with 15 rounds in the magazine, but none in the chamber.

Beech Grove mayor Dennis Buckley expressed both horror and incredulity at the footage of the armed child, asking authorities to "work tirelessly to secure charges and a conviction against the responsible parties, with maximum penalties," per the outlet.
