Authorities say Mississippi mother shot two cops dead in parking lot during confrontation
Police had reportedly been talking with mother for half-hour before shooting.
Authorities in Mississippi say a local mother and veterinarian shot and killed two police officers before dying of a gunshot wound herself following a lengthy discussion in a parking lot.
Officials in Bay St. Louis claim Amy Anderson shot Sgt. Steven Robin and Officer Branden Estorffe after they talked to her at length as part of a wellness check they were performing.
Anderson was reportedly in the vehicle with a 10-year-old child. The child's condition had not yet been revealed as of Thursday afternoon.
The veterinarian herself reportedly died from a gunshot wound to the chest that may have been self-inflicted, officials said.
On his Twitter account, meanwhile, state Gov. Tate Reeves wrote that he was "heartbroken" by the incident and was praying for the family of the victims.
