Mass shooting at Baltimore block party kills 2, injures dozens, police say
The deceased have been identified as an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man.
Up to 30 people were shot and two people are dead following a mass shooting Sunday in Baltimore, police said.
Acting Commissioner Rich Worley said officers responded to multiple calls of a mass shooting at a block party in the southern Baltimore neighborhood of Brooklyn shortly after 12:30 a.m.
First responders found a deceased 18-year-old woman at the scene. Nine people were taken to local hospitals while as many as 20 other people went to hospitals on their own.
A 20-year-old man also succumbed to his wounds and three others are in critical condition.
A suspect is not in custody, Worley said, but investigators are studying video and interviewing witnesses in an effort to identify the suspect. Officials are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact police.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said: "This is an absolute tragedy that did not have to happen."
