Officials have not yet publicly identified the suspect.
U.S. Capitol Police arrested a man allegedly armed with a gun near the U.S. Senate buildings on Tuesday, officials said.
The suspect was in the park across from Union Station, and there is no indication that the threat remains present, police said on X, formerly Twitter.
Officers also searched the park and the suspect's belongings, and an investigation is ongoing, according to law enforcement.
Officials have not yet publicly identified the suspect.
The arrest comes after two men were arrested Sunday after a vehicle crashed into a Capitol Hill complex barricade. Officials allegedly found firearms, including one reportedly fitted with a device to turn a Glock into a machine gun-like pistol.
