Escaped convict indicted for felony murder of accomplice guard in multi-state chase
Vicky White apparently helped Casey White escape from prison.
Casey White, the accused murderer who led police on a multi-state manhunt after breaking out of an Alabama prison in April, has been charged with felony murder in connection with the death of his alleged accomplice, the deceased prison guard Vicky White.
Investigators believe Vicky White helped Casey White escape from the Lauderdale County jail where the latter faced a capital murder charge. The pair, who were unrelated, ended their 11-day hunt when police closed in on them in Evansville, Ind.
Vicky White was found dead at the scene; police initially claimed she had killed herself. Documents in the Lauderdale County Circuit Court this week, meanwhile, revealed that Casey White has been charged with felony murder related to her death.
Felony murder can cover crimes in which the accused did not directly cause the death of a victim, but rather committed a felony crime during which the victim died.
The Supreme Court has ruled in the past that participants in felony murder can face the death penalty under the charges.
