Family of 4, including 2 toddlers, found stabbed to death in New York City apartment
The father was identified as the building's superintendent.
Four family members, including two toddlers, were found stabbed to death in a locked Upper West Side apartment in New York City.
The adults – a 40-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man whom neighbors identified as the apartment building's superintendent – suffered fatal injuries to their necks, according to an internal police report cited Monday by The New York Times and corroborated by other news outlets.
The children, boys aged 3 and 1, had also been killed, but officials have not provided details about their deaths.
The grisly scene was discovered Monday afternoon in Manhattan when two relatives – identified as a superintendent of a nearby building and the slain wife’s father – went to check in on the four, according to the New York Post.
The superintendent tried to remove the door's lock when no one answered, and he peered in and dialed 911.
Although multiple media reports stated that the deaths may have been the result of a murder-suicide, police have not confirmed whether the case is being investigated as such.
