Former Saskatchewan Roughriders running back Zac Stacy jailed for 6 months for assaulting girlfriend
Shocking video showed ex-football player battering woman.
Former professional football player Zac Stacy will spend six months in jail over the violent assault of his former girlfriend, a judge ruled this week.
Stacy, who pleaded guilty to violently attacking his now-former girlfriend Kristin Evans, was arrested in November of 2021 for the incident.
Video circulating on the Internet at the time, obtained from a home security camera, showed Stacy—who played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders as well as the St. Louis Rams—brutally battering Evans in their home within sight of their five-month-old son.
Circuit Judge Mark Blechman sentenced Stacy to the prison term on Monday, giving him half a year in prison and a year's worth of probation.
In an Instagram post following the sentencing, meanwhile, Evans claimed that Stacy had sought therapy since the assault and that his comportment had improved since then.
"[O]ver the last six months, he's consistently shown an improvement, as well as our son enjoying spending time with him," Evans said.
