Golf star Tiger Woods arrested for alleged DUI following rollover crash in Florida
Investigators said Woods showed signs of impairment, but a breathalyzer did not detect any alcohol in the golf star's system.
Golf legend Tiger Woods was reportedly arrested and charged Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence after he was involved in a rollover crash in Florida.
Martin County sheriff John Budensiek told reporters that Woods was driving his Land Rover when it overturned after attempting to overtake a truck on a narrow two-lane road near his residence on Jupiter Island. No injuries were reported.
The sheriff claimed the truck was slowing down to turn into a driveway at the time of the incident, which was around 2 p.m. Eastern, and Woods crashed into the vehicle at a "high rate of speed" despite the road's 30 miles per hour limit.
Investigators said Woods showed signs of impairment, but a breathalyzer did not detect any alcohol in the golf star's system. However, investigators believe drugs could be behind the impairment and Woods was charged with a DUI after he declined to submit to a urinalysis test, according to The Guardian.
The charge comes after Woods was arrested in 2017 on a DUI charge after Florida police found him asleep behind the wheel of a damaged vehicle. He pleaded guilty to reckless driving.
