Heavily armed man found dead in Colorado amusement park
The individual was reportedly of local origin and was found wearing tactical gear and patches suggesting he was part of law enforcement.
Officials at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Colorado discovered a deceased individual on Saturday morning equipment with a substantial arsenal.
Discovered on the 20-year-old man's corpse was an AR-style rifle, a pistol, and explosives, Fox News reported, citing the Garfield County Sheriff's Office. Authorities discovered a message near the man, saying "I am not a killer, I just want to get into the caves."
Authorities are still investigating the incident and it remains unclear whether the deceased wrote the message. The individual was reportedly a local and was found wearing tactical gear and patches suggesting he was part of law enforcement.
"While this investigation is still ongoing and very active it is important to realize that given the amount of weaponry, ammunition, and explosive devices found, the suspect could have implemented an attack of devastating proportions upon our community and first responders," said Garfield County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Walt Stowe.
The cause of death remains unclear as of press time.
