U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Thursday that agency officers have arrested a woman they say is an illegal alien wanted in El Salvador for aggravated homicide.

Idalia Isabel Morales-Mejia was arrested in Woodbridge, a Virginia suburb near Washington, D.C. And according to ICE, she is an associate of the notorious Latin American gang MS-13.

"The media would consider her to be a ‘non-criminal’ because she has no known criminal history in the United States – despite the fact that she is facing charges for aggravated homicide in El Salvador. ICE Washington, D.C. will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing criminal alien offenders from our Washington, D.C. and Virginia communities," ICE Washington, D.C. Field Office Director Robert Guadian said in a statement

El Salvadoran authorities charged Morales-Mejia with aggravated homicide and illicit associations in October 2013. It's unclear when and where she entered the U.S., but she wasn't admitted legally, according to ICE.

A task force in El Salvador tipped off ICE in Washington, D.C. that Morales-Mejia was hiding in Northern Virginia. She's been served a notice to appear before a Justice Department immigration judge.
