'Multiple gunshot victims' at Iowa high school, campus in 'no further danger,' police say

Police confirmed Thursday that an active shooter Thursday left "multiple gunshot victims" at Perry High School in Iowa.

The situation no longer poses a threat to the public, per Dallas County Sherriff Adam Infante. 

Officials have identified the suspect, but the suspect's condition is unclear, Infante said. However, according to both NBC News and The Associated Press, the shooter is dead.

Police responded to reports of a possible shooting around 7:40 a.m. local time. Officials also cleared and evacuated the middle school and elementary school.

A live stream of the school provided by local outlet WHO 13 shows police cars from multiple departments at the scene. A reporter with the outlet described seeing multiple ambulances arrive and leave the area, as well as a medical helicopter.

Perry is located about 25 miles northwest of Des Moines. Thursday is the first day of the second semester following the school's winter break.

The Dallas County Sheriff's Office, where the school is located, did not respond to Just the News' request for comment.
