Four stabbed to death in Illinois home invasion

Four people were fatally stabbed Wednesday afternoon in a home invasion in Rockford, Illinois, according to authorities. 

Rockford authorities say a 22-year-old male has been taken into custody in connection with the attack, in which seven others also were injured. 

Those who died in the attack and have yet to be identified are a 15-year-old girl, a 49-year-old man, a 22-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, according to the BBC.

Authorities as of Thursday morning had yet to make public a motive for the attack.

"This is, obviously, a huge blow to all of us," Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara said. "However, in Rockford fashion, we get knocked down, sometimes too much, but we always get back up stronger."
