Man who threatened mass shooting at Stanley Cup game arrested, Las Vegas police say
Court records dating back to 2014 show that the suspect has a history of arrests that include threatening terrorism.
Las Vegas police say they arrested a man this week just hours before Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Championships for allegedly threatening to commit a mass shooting during the game.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said Thursday the man was arrested less than four hours before the start of the game.
The suspect is 33-year-old Matthew DeSavio, according to The Associated Press.
The police report describes him as having a history of arrests and mental illness. It remains unclear whether he had weapons in his possession.
DeSavio was arrested on Tuesday and before his arrest, at least three people contacted the police citing concerns about his behavior.
The report shows that through text messages and social media posts, the suspect had said he was going to “shoot up” the hockey game against the Florida Panthers.
Court records dating back to 2014 show that DeSavio has a history of arrests that include threatening terrorism.
He is being held in a county jail on $60,000 bail and is supposed to appear in court next week.
