Michigan man with a suspended license appears virtually for hearing while driving a car

A Michigan man who had a suspended license made a virtual appearance at his own hearing on the matter earlier this month, by dialing in while he was driving.

Corey Harris told Washtenaw County Judge Cedric Simpson that he was driving to his doctor's office on May 15, and was behind the wheel at the time of the video call. Natalie Pate, the attorney representing Harris, asked for an adjournment of two to four weeks after her client was parked, according to NBC News.

"OK, so maybe I don't understand something," Simpson said in a live stream posted to his YouTube page. "This is a driving while license suspended? And he was just driving? And he doesn't have a license?" 

Pate responded in the affirmative that the charges in the case were driving with a suspended license.

"No, I'm looking at his record. He doesn't have a license. He's suspended, and he's just driving," Simpson said in the video, with Harris still on the call. "I don't even know why he would do that. So, the defendant's bond is revoked in this matter."

Simpson then denied the adjournment request and ordered Harris to turn himself in by 6 p.m. on May 15. But it is not clear whether he made the deadline.
