A mass shooting occurred at an Eid al-Fitr event in Philadelphia at a local mosque, resulting in multiple injuries, several outlets have reported.
Authorities believe the shooting was the result of two armed groups exchanging fire, CNN reported. At least two injured were rushed to the hospital while a further three reportedly arrived with gunshot wounds.
More than 1,000 participants were estimated to have attended the event at the Philadelphia Masjid mosque to celebrate the end of Ramadan, according to the New York Post. The shooting took place near the mosque.
Fox29 local reporter Steve Keely indicated that police had made "numerous arrests & at least 4 guns recovered... At least one Philadelphia Police officer also fired weapon."
It remains unclear is there have been any fatalities.
