Musician Sean Combs arrested in New York: Report
Combs, who has been the focus of a months-long sex-trafficking probe, recently relocated to New York ahead of expected charges. The exact charges were not clear, but he has been accused of sexual assault in nine lawsuits so far.
Embattled music mogul Sean Combs was arrested by the New York Police Department in Manhattan on Monday night, his attorney Marc Agnifilo confirmed to CNN.
Combs, who has been the focus of a months-long sex-trafficking probe, recently relocated to New York ahead of expected charges. The exact charges were not clear, but he has been accused of sexual assault in nine lawsuits so far.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Agnifilo told the outlet. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person but is not criminal."
"To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges," he continued. "Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Combs has denied many of the allegations, but apologized for assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, after video surveillance was obtained and released by CNN earlier this year. The assault occurred in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.
