Philadelphia Eagles lineman indicted on rape, kidnapping charges days before Super Bowl
Sills was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Eagles in 2022.
Philadelphia Eagles offensive guard Matthew Sills was indicted on rape and kidnapping charges days before his team is scheduled to play in the Super Bowl, the Ohio Attorney General's office announced Wednesday.
Sills, 25, is accused of kidnapping and raping a girl in December 2019 in Guernsey County, Ohio, where his hometown of Byesville is located. A grand jury issued the indictment in the case, which is being prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office Special Prosecutions Section
"Sills engaged in sexual activity that was not consensual and held a victim against her will. The crime was immediately reported, and the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office conducted a detailed investigation," Attorney General Dave Yost's office stated.
Sills is scheduled to appear Feb. 16 in Guernsey County Common Pleas Court.
He was signed last year by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent.
The Eagles are scheduled to appear in the Super Bowl on Feb. 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
