Police do not know if the incident was gang-related
Three people are dead and four others injured following a shooting early Sunday morning at a party in Los Angeles celebrating the birthday of rapper MoneySign Suede.
One Los Angeles Police Department detective said it is the "worst shooting incident of the year regarding fatalities," according to Fox LA.
Witnesses told the outlet they were at the underground warehouse party to celebrate the rapper's birthday.
Police have not identified a suspect, and said they did not know if the incident was gang-related.
The rapper posted a statement on his Instagram after the shooting, which he said happened following a paid show.
"Just wanna [sic] get on here real quick to send my condolences to what happened after this paid show yesterday," he wrote. "I pray for all the people who were injured and died last night. My condolences and heart goes out to all the families of this hurt."
He indicated that he would pause his live performances in light of the incident.
Compared to 2021, violent crime in Los Angeles has risen by more than 7% year-to-date, according to LAPD data released at the end of May.
