The driver of the Tesla Cybertruck that detonated outside the lobby of a Trump Hotel in Las Vegas has been identified as Army veteran Matthew Livelsberger, 37, a resident of Colorado Springs, multiple news outlets reported, citing law enforcement.

The New Year's Day incident saw Livelsberger drive the vehicle to the entrance of the building, where it exploded. Authorities believe he connected incendiary devices and fireworks inside the car to a detonation system that he triggered. Livelsberger died in the incident.

The episode comes as authorities are investigating a separate New Year's Day incident in which a suspect drove a vehicle at high speeds through a crowded New Orleans street.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, also an Army veteran. Authorities have not identified any links between both incidents as of press time.
