A suspect who was arrested in relation to the murder of Jewish synagogue president Samantha Woll in Detroit was released on Friday by police, according to reports.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released at this time, was questioned for 72 hours, according to Fox News

The man detained was an acquaintance of Woll's, The Detroit News reports.

Woll was discovered stabbed to death outside her Lafayette Park home. She had attended a wedding that night before returning home, and authorities believe she was stabbed within her residence.

Prior to her death, Woll had led the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue since 2022.

"The details of the investigation will remain confidential at this time to ensure the integrity of the important steps that remain," Police Chief James White said, according to the local Michigan outlet. "Investigators will be continuing their work with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office until the conclusion of this investigation.”

"We're actively questioning the person of interest, and we're confident he knows something," he later said. "We believe the victim and the killer knew each other. This is not random, and the community is not at risk."
