Teen with machete arrested for allegedly intimidating Harris supporters at Florida polling station
Caleb James Williams has been charged with aggravated assault and improper exhibition of a firearm, according to police.
A Florida teen has been arrested for allegedly intimidating voters in the state's northeastern coastal town of Neptune Beach.
The incident occurred Tuesday, and Caleb James Williams, 18, has been charged with aggravated assault and improper exhibition of a firearm in connection with the matter, according to police.
Duval County Democratic Party Chairman Daniel Henry said Williams was accompanied by other teenagers and that they were waving flags with former President Donald Trump's name on them.
As of now, the other teens are not facing any charges. Henry said that the women whom the teens were intimidating were supporters of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
Williams allegedly "brandished a machete in an aggressive, threatening posture over his head" at two women who were 71 and 54, according to ABC News.
Police said during a press conference that Williams went to the polling location to antagonize the "other side."
"The group was there for no other reason but for ill intentions to cause a disturbance," Neptune Beach Police Chief Michael J. Key said.
