Three dead, including suspect, in Oregon grocery store attack
The Bend police chief said officers "found the apparent shooter dead" on the scene.
Two people were killed Sunday night in a Safeway grocery store in Oregon by a gunman using an AR-15 style rifle, according to authorities.
The incident occurred at about 7 p.m. in the city of Bend, about 160 miles outside of Portland.
The incident began when the gunman began shooting in the parking lot of the shopping center in which the store was located, Bend Police Department Chief Mike Krantz said.
He also said the unidentified gunman fatally shot one person at the Safeway entrance and continued through the store, firing rounds and killing a second person inside.
Officers reportedly heard shots when they arrived at the store but found the apparent shooter dead with the rifle and a shotgun nearby.
One additional person sustained non-fatal injuries.
