US Marshals find, arrest yoga teacher suspected of murdering pro female cyclist, romantic rival

A Texas cyclist accused of murdering another woman has been apprehended at a Costa Rican resort and will be extradited to the U.S., authorities said Thursday. 

Kaitlin Armstrong, who is wanted in connection with the May 11 murder of Anna Moriah Wilson in Austin, was arrested "at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas," the U.S. Marshals said in a press release.

Armstrong reportedly fled the country under a fraudulent passport; police said they could find no outbound flights under her name at Newark Liberty International Airport where she was last seen. 

Susan Pamerleau, U.S. marshal for the Western District of Texas, said the service promptly elevated the investigation to major case status "likely played a key role in her capture after a 43-day run."

Armstrong will be deported and returned to the U.S., the service also said.

Her live-in boyfriend Colin Strickland, 34, had a fling with Wilson and had snuck out on the day of the shooting to meet her while she was in Austin, from San Francisco, preparing for an upcoming race in Waco, officials said.

Strickland dropped off Wilson at her friend’s house, where she was later found dead. A Jeep appearing to be Armstrong’s was seen on surveillance footage outside. Police questioned Armstrong but released her without charges, according to the New York Post.
