Utah man arrested in connection with Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot

The Justice Department announced the arrest of a Utah man for alleged felony and misdemeanor offenses during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. 

The FBI arrested Hal Ray Huddleston on Monday in Utah.

Court documents state Huddleston entered the U.S. Capitol building at 3:08 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2021, according to a DOJ press release. Huddleston then allegedly made his way toward the Crypt and exited the building at 3:24 p.m.

After leaving the Capitol, Huddleston allegedly loitered for more than an hour outside the building's Senate Wing Door on the Upper West Terrace. The DOJ reports this still placed Huddleston "within the restricted perimeter established around the building."

Huddleston "allegedly joined at least one violent confrontation between rioters and officers."

When a police line began to push crowds north around 4:26 p.m., Huddleston allegedly pushed back and began fighting with law enforcement.

Huddleston allegedly joined another rioter in using a wooden flag pole to push back police.

Huddleston is accused of felony obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder.

Huddleston is also accused of misdemeanor entering and remaining and disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds as well as disorderly or disruptive conduct and parading, picketing, and demonstrating in a Capitol building.

"A complaint is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," the DOJ release reads.

Court records do not list an attorney for Huddleston.
