Multiple people are injured, including a police officer, after a shooting Sunday in Washington, D.C., during a Juneteenth concert, law enforcement officials said.

The law enforcement agency wrote on Twitter that it is responding to 14th and U street NW "for a shooting incident in which multiple people have been shot, including an MPD officer."

DC Police Chief Robert Contee will provide an update shortly, officials stated.

The intersection of 14th and U is a popular location with many restaurants and stores.

The DC Police Union confirmed that one of its members was shot while working in the area. The officer was transferred to the hospital and is currently stable.

DC Fire and EMS confirmed to Fox 5 reporter Lindsay Watts that the shooting occurred at Moechella, which describes itself on Instagram as "a peaceful demonstration" and an "Advocacy Festival Amplifying the Culture of Washington DC."

Moechella, scheduled for Sunday from 4 pm to 8 pm, featured live music from artists such as New Impressionz and Yaddiya.

Moechella's organizer said police were trying to clear the area after the event when the shooting occurred, Watts reported.
