Actor and former NFL player Carl Weathers died Thursday at the age of 76, passing away "peacefully in his sleep," the Associated Press reported, citing a statement from the Weathers family.
Weathers's acting career spanned decades saw him take on memorable roles such as Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" franchise and as Greef Karga in the "Star Wars" franchise's "The Mandalorian." He also appeared in "Predator" and "Happy Gilmore," among other films.
Weathers further enjoyed a brief stint in the NFL as a linebacker with the Oakland Raiders, beginning in 1970.
