Food Network host and prominent chef Michael Chiarello dead at 61

He died surrounded by family and friends in Napa, California.

Food Network host and well-known chef Michael Chiarello passed away at age 61 after having an allergic reaction which led to anaphylactic shock, according to reports. 

“We deeply mourn the loss of our beloved patriarch Michael,” Chiarello’s family said in a statement to The Wrap.

“His culinary brilliance, boundless creativity, and unwavering commitment to family were at the core of his being," the statement continued. "He brought people together through the joy of shared meals, fostering lasting memories around the table.”

According to the New York Post, he died surrounded by family and friends in Napa, California.

In 2005, Chiarello won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Service Show Host for his show on the Food Network titled “Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello.”

He also got second place during the first season of “Top Chef Masters” in 2009, and was also a guest judge on “Top Chef."

He is survived by his four children.
