Jerry West, the NBA's third player to eclipse 25,000 career points and architect of the Lakers' dynasty, passes away
Three-time basketball Hall of Fame selection and 14-time NBA all-star Jerry West died Wednesday morning. He was 86.
West had a storied career as both a player and executive. In 14 years with the Los Angeles Lakers, West guided the Lakers to nine NBA Finals appearances and one championship.
After his playing days, he constructed the Lakers’ “Showtime Dynasty.” He won eight championships as Los Angeles’ general manager, and also spent time working for the Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.
