The Dallas Mavericks basketball team no longer plays the national anthem prior to home games this season and there are not plans to do so in the future.

The choice was made by team owner Mark Cuban, which he confirmed to The Athletic on Monday.

The Athletic reported that none of the preseason and regular-season matches that have taken place at the American Airlines Center this season included the pre-game anthem, though the team never announced the move to nix the playing of the song.
