NHL star Kaprizov wanted in Russia for alleged fraudulent military ID, reports

Other players are wanted in alleged scheme, with one reportedly having already been arrested

NHL star forward Kirill Kaprizov is wanted in his home country of Russia in connection with an alleged scheme regarding forging Russian military identification.

The allegation is being made against several players on the Moscow pro hockey team on which Kaprizov previously played.

Ivan Fedotov, Kaprizov’s former teammate and a Philadelphia Flyers prospect, was arrested Friday outside of a St. Petersburg hockey rink.

He is charged with evading military service and has since been sent to a remote military base in northern Russia, his agent says.

Michael Russo, a reporter for The Athletic who covers the Minnesota Wild, for whom Kaprizov plays, reports a team source says Kaprizov is not in the United States.

The 25-year-old Kaprizov scored 108 points last season, emerging as the Wild’s franchise player.

Concern has emerged from several NHL sources about the status of their Russian native players, upon news of Fedotov's arrest.

Russia planned to enlist more than 130,000 men aged 18-27 for one year of military service, and many star athletes are concerned they may be drafted.
