Popular 60s singer Sam Moore passed away at age 89, according to reports.
Moore, one of the members of the duo "Sam & Dave," passed away Friday morning. He was well known for the songs "Soul Man" and "Hold On, I’m Comin."
"Soul Man" became popular a second time when the Blues Brothers - comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi - covered the song on "Saturday Night Live."
Moore reportedly died from complications following surgery.
He used to perform with singing partner Dave Prater, who passed away in 1988, according to Fox News.
Moore was best known for singing R&B songs in the 60s and for influencing singers like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, among others.
He is survived by his wife, daughter and two grandchildren.
